& CDBS

At Gumdent Dental Clinic - Ringwood, we priorities the dental health of your little ones. Our pediatric dentistry services are designed to be gentle, reassuring and effective in maintaining your child’s teeth and keeping their gums healthy as they grow.

We participate in the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)!

We proudly bulk bill eligible children (aged 2-17) under Medicare’s CDBS program, covering up to $1,132 in basic dental services over two years . This means little to no out-of-pocket cost for kids’ dental treatments – ensuring every child can access care.

What's Covered Under CDBS and What's Not!

Covered Services Include:

• Examinations

• X-rays

• Cleaning

• Fissure sealing

• Fillings

• Root canals

• Tooth extractions

What’s Not Covered:

• Orthodontic treatment (e.g, braces)

• Cosmetic dental work

• Hospital-based dental services

Important Notes:

• The benefit cap of $1,132 resets every two calendar years, but unused amounts from the first year can carry over to the second year.

  • Cleanings & Exams

Regular dental exams and cleanings are critical for maintaining a child’s oral health. Our dental practitioners will carefully clean your child’s teeth and check for any signs of cavities, gum disease or misalignment.

  • Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are a protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of molars to prevent cavities. They are especially advantageous for children as their back teeth can be harder to clean properly.

  • Cavity Fillings

If your child develops a cavity, our dentists will fill it with a tooth-coloured material, restoring the tooth and reducing the chance of further decay.

  • Pulpotomy (Baby Tooth Root Canal)

A pulpotomy is a procedure used to treat infection in the pulp of a baby tooth, keeping the tooth in place until it naturally falls out.

  • Crowns for Baby Teeth

If a child’s baby tooth is severely decayed or damaged, a crown may be applied to restore the tooth’s function and appearance.

  • Tooth Extractions

If a baby tooth is severely decayed or infected, extraction may be necessary. Our team ensures that the process is quick, gentle and as stress-free as possible for your child.
